Board of Health · Meeting of June 2, 2026

Oak Bluffs Board of Health approves coastal septic variance, backs island nursing coordination. The board unanimously approved a septic system variance for Michelle Strong's property at 13 County Road, permitting a leaching facility 77 feet from a wetland (100 feet required), supporting an upgrade from a 1,000-gallon tank to a MicroFAST system. Health Agent Alexa Arieta confirmed the percolation test indicated the proposed location as optimal.

The board also endorsed Arieta's proposal for coordinated contact-tracing and nursing contracts across Martha's Vineyard island towns, addressing a funding gap from a departing contractor. With Oak Bluffs managing a tuberculosis case, the coordinated plan ensures continuous contact tracing for communicable diseases.
