OAK BLUFFS — Finance Committee recommends warrant articles, converts Town Clerk to appointed post. The Finance and Advisory Committee voted Thursday to recommend warrant articles for spring town meetings, including converting the Town Clerk and Tree Warden from elected to appointed positions. Town Accountant Deborah Potter explained that appointed selection allows hiring based on qualifications and experience.

Key recommendations included $388,067 for a Wastewater Treatment Facility bond payment, $100,000 for August Fireworks with new barge rental costs, and $60,000 for workforce housing assistance. The committee is managing a projected budget shortfall of $1.5 million to $2 million, substantially reduced from the original $3.9 million estimate.
