OAK BLUFFS — Finance Committee approves seven close-of-year budget transfers totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars. The committee voted to authorize transfers for police overtime (approximately $185,000), fire EMS staffing ($23,000 from Council on Aging), building maintenance ($175,000), highway operations, and snow and ice operations ($217,000 immediately, with additional funding by July 15). Member Maura McGroarty voted against the police transfer, citing sustainability concerns, and voted against a $60,000 legal-expense transfer driven by zoning and land-use lawsuits.
The largest single transfer addresses the snow and ice operations deficit of $292,000.
