OAK BLUFFS — Harbor committee approves beacon and charter fishing recommendations. The Oak Bluffs Harbor Advisory Committee on April 1 unanimously recommended to the Selectboard approval of a navigational beacon on the second jetty and a charter fishing business operation. Emily DeBettencourt, Harbor Master, reported 645 reservations for the coming season with nearly all July and August weekends sold out, generating $135,000 through Dockwa.
The proposed charter fishing operation would deploy the vessel Silent Witness under Julian Carter and Tim Peter, licensed for six people, with a target start date by Memorial Day. The jetty project's south tower foundation has been poured with completion targeted for April 30.
