Oak Bluffs School Committee unanimously approves $7,800 in donations, advances meal policy. The committee accepted $800 from the MV Striped Bass and Bluefish Derby for the Student Activities Fund and a $7,000 anonymous donation for the Miscellaneous Donations fund at Principal Jeremy Light's discretion. The committee also unanimously approved the first reading of the Oak Bluffs School Meal Charge Policy, advancing it to a second reading.
Principal Light reported that nearly all third through eighth grade students participated in the first ELA MCAS test, with math testing scheduled for May 13-14, while transportation challenges driven by bus driver shortages prompted a new communication protocol with email alerts, text messages, and Portuguese translations for families.
